VANCOUVER, CANADA – October 24, 2017 – NetHope, a consortium of 50-plus global nonprofits with leadership in Seattle, formally launched The Center for the Digital Nonprofit today with representatives from Founding Partners Microsoft and Okta. Immediately following the announcement Washington State Governor Jay Inslee delivered a Keynote underscoring the importance of The Center model: “The Role of Government in Fostering Innovation for Good.”
Over 300 representatives from global nonprofits, leading technology companies, and funding organizations have converged at this annual gathering. They are united by a common goal: to apply the promise and power of technology to the problems and potential of humanity.
“The Center for the Digital Nonprofit pulls the future forward so that international nonprofits can do good better,” explained Lauren Woodman, NetHope CEO. “The Center brings together the expertise of the technology sector with the on-the-ground experience of global nonprofits to create a network for committed, forward-looking organizations to improve the world we share.”
“We are thrilled to announce that Microsoft and Okta are Founding Partners of this new initiative,” continued Woodman. “We hope their leadership and generosity inspires other partners to follow their example.”
Justin Spelhaug, General Manager, Microsoft Tech for Social Impact, and Erin Baudo-Felter, Executive Director, Okta for Good, shared the stage with Woodman. On Thursday, Frederic Kerrest, Okta COO and Co-Founder, will deliver the closing Summit Keynote.
“We are inspired by the amazing and critical work that NetHope and its members are doing around the world. And, we are proud to be a Founding Partner of NetHope’s Center for the Digital Nonprofit. This initiative is critical for bringing together nonprofit, government, and private-sector companies to help nonprofits digitally transform and solve the world’s greatest challenges in new ways, explained Justin Spelhaug, General Manager, Microsoft Tech for Social Impact.
“NetHope’s mission speaks to all of us at Okta, as we believe strongly in the power of connecting people and technology to drive positive change for organizations and communities. As a Founding Partner for the Center for the Digital Nonprofit, we’re committing the best of Okta – our people, products, and financial resources – to support digital capabilities for nonprofits working to address the world’s most critical needs. It’s a rare opportunity for us to build our corporate social impact work alongside NetHope’s new initiative, and we are excited for what’s ahead,” said Erin Baudo Felter, Executive Director, Okta for Good.
