NetHope, a global consortium of over 60 of the world’s leading nonprofits, is proud to announce the election of four new nonprofit organizations as Members during its November 3 Annual General Meeting.
The four new Members – Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Corus International, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, and Trek Medics – share NetHope’s mission to work together to amplify aid, development and humanitarian work globally by using the transformative power of technology.

It is a testament to our community that such high caliber nonprofits are seeking to join the NetHope community as a critical part of their digital transformation journey. The NetHope community has likewise responded by enthusiastically voting to bring these organizations into the collective. Together our community is doing more to achieve collective impact in ways that build on and go beyond the reach of individual organizations,” said NetHope CEO Lance Pierce on the announcement of these new NetHope Members.
Through NetHope, Members share insights and lessons learned, collaborate on common issues, and work together to solve the complex problems that face nonprofits as they embrace digital in their operations, missions, and programs today. The NetHope Members do this via thematic Working Groups, regional Chapters, partnership programs and trainings, and collective emergency responses. NetHope welcomes the rich expertise brought by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Corus International, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, and Trek Medics, to our community and we look forward to finding even more collective impact. About Trek Medics
Trek Medics is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving access to emergency care and transport for at-risk and vulnerable populations through innovative mobile phone technologies.
“In joining NetHope, Trek Medics looks forward to bringing its extensive program implementation experience to the organization, gained through more than 20 years of interventions in prehospital emergency care systems, including in both development and disaster relief contexts. Throughout this time Trek Medics has strived singularly to use technology to strengthen the impact of local and international response organizations for beneficiaries and improve their accountability among them. Some recent successes include: supporting the emergency communications of the Somali Red Crescent Society’s prehospital emergency care system which responds to over 300 incidents per month, ranging from “routine” emergencies like motor vehicle collisions and dialysis patients, to horrific multi-casualty incidents caused by suicide bombings. Another success we’re proud of is having had the privilege of supporting rural ambulance and fire services along the northern coast of the Dominican Republic since 2014 – what began as a small pilot program funded by USAID’s Development Innovation Venture program has turned into to a community-based response platform that has been used to coordinate response operations for daily emergencies and through six hurricane seasons and is now being replicated in Haiti and Puerto Rico.
Internally, we have accrued an extraordinary amount of “institutional knowledge” which we believe could be of great benefit to other NGOs working to develop community response programs. This knowledge has been earned through the school of hard knocks, after years of work with countless telecom providers, public safety and public health agencies, and non-traditional community response groups. The sailing hasn’t always been smooth, but we never let such opportunities for learning to slip away – as with any technology project, the biggest challenges are often found in the human systems that utilize the technology, and in this area we have a deep wealth of knowledge that we are eager to contribute to NetHope’s community.
